Great looking phone,thin, light.
Sound and reception are good, and the camera takes great pics for a cell phone.
Unfortunately the software and menu setup are very annoying.
Camera stores pics to the phone, not memory card and can’t find a way to change that. Must then move pics to card to download to PC (laborious process).
Must reset to USB setting every time I connect to PC because it keeps defaulting away from.
Can’t get connected with the PC software it came with because it won’t recognize the phone. Great looking but frustrating.
Update.Found software update for Vista. Can now acces phone memory and SIM. Simplifies things greatly.

I just purchased this phone great service from hasslefree but the phone just has not done well for me I am a at&t customer this is my first unlocked phone and it will be my last every one I spoke to would ask if I was in a bad reception area it did not matter where I would be dropped calls poor reception you name it to make matters worse I have misplaced my information that I need to return the phone!

I wanted an unlocked quad band phone for use with my dirt cheap T-Mobile prep[aid plan, and I wanted it to sync effortlessly with my Apple Mac Pro. This phone fits the bill perfectly. It has a full set of Bluetooth profiles that have not been crippled intentionally by the carrier (sayonara Verizon) and within seconds I had transferred my entire phonebook, contacts list and iCal schedule to the phone in one slick, smooth operation. The built in 3MP digital camera is a joke, but it is OK as cell phone cameras go.
This phone will happily work as a GPRS or EDGE modem via the included USB cable if you have contracted this service with your provider. Opening the slider is very easy, the keypad is easier to use than some clamshell phones, and the display is brilliant, clear, and a pleasure to use. This is the best cell phone I have ever owned, and it will work in Europe too. A great deal for a good product, I’m completely satisfied.

Short Background: I was an avid Nokia user for 7+ years using at least 6 phones. In 2005 I got a Samsung P777 Slider. (great phone for the time)-would’ve given it 4 stars as well. Aside of converting to a new phone manufacturer, the p777 was great. Very Solid-Slider felt like it would never wear out. Great Flash with 1.3MP camera. Video too. Dropped many times. I had to re-paint parts but other wise, it still works and I still have it, fully functional. The negatives of the P777, No bluetooth, No Snooze alarm, No speakerphone & No memeory Card slot (100MB built-in) and samsungs issue with a universal headset port (they use one that only fits its own)
Ok, now the D900i. I have read soooo many reviews and claims about it, and since I had a phone that was close before, I can tell you a lot about the facts. I have only had the phone for about 1 month so I’ve worked out most of the questions, but I still have a few issues. You can contact me after if you are concerned.
Positives: 3MP camera with flash, very thin and fairly solid feeling. Easily accessible memory card slot (MicroSD)-using 2GB sandisk. Speakerphone, bluetooth ready, 3 alarms with snooze (days, tones, etc), vivid screen with brightness setting, Image editor options (frames, b&w, sepia, negative, cliparts, etc), functional calender and address book that syncs birthdays, events, descriptions with alarms & repeats, MP3 player with playlists.
Neutral Comments: i purchased the phone partly to have hands-free use. I cannot speak for the bluetooth, and I am assuming because my service company will not carry this phone that the “edge” internet is not functional right now. I suppose it is suppose to be better, but its not an internet phone, so if you want to surf the web with blazing speed, get an iphone or similar.
Negative comments: (i am a tough critic of things so don’t take all my comments to heart. Its a good phone, but if I could improve it, these would be them) The phone feels pretty solid, but nothing like the P777. I’d give it a 6 out of 10 for structual feel (P777 a 9).
- Camera with auto-focus is slow. Flash and picture has a > 1 second delay which is an eternity next to the p777 and all digital cameras.
- Image editor only works when images are on the phones memory, not the Card.
- Transfers to and from the card & playing music from the card has some delay, not much though.
- Yes it is true, you can group people & use music for ring tones but for text messages & e-mail messages, you can only choose from the 5 pre-loaded tones AND you can make one specifically for a certain group or person.
- because of the phone’s unique structure, it is difficult to find custom cases if a belt clip is important to you.
- The speakerphone review are true-its ok at best. People can hear you but it is at times tough to her them (either too quiet or too loud)
- The side camera button is flush but sensitive to touch. In pocket or case, it can get hit and display screen for a moment. It does not unlock the phone but it makes for a shorter battery life.
- Copying numbers over from an existing Sim card is tedious. The phone makes you COPY the file again to edit the type, e-mail, Birthday, etc. then you have to delete the old number. You might as well re-enter the number like new.
- Headset port is a little more sophisticated, but still I would never find a device that has this connection.
- The CD-ROM Media editor give little direction. Hint (because I didnt get it) To edit a song, you must “cut” out the portions of the song that you don’t want and save the rest. All the other, you save the part that you want. Different
- The instruction manual is thin and worthless to me because all it does is tell you what the picture icons mean.
- Texting and dialing are “different” because the phone is so thin. The buttons are flat, but its much better than touch screen (no tactile response)
- A previous review noted that texting requires multiple acknowledgements in order to send vs. Nokia. Hint, use the Center button for everything. It is the only quick way to navigate.
Sorry to ramble, but I had to spend hours of reading and research to find a few good reviews. As I said, im a tough critic and a middle of the line rater. I don’t give 1’s and I don’t give 5’s. So this is pretty good.

got this phone for a friend, this is an excellent phone, camera is great nice clean clear pics, and reception is excellent, slides nice and easy really cool, and is not too difficult to navigate.

First, I bought this phone thinking that it would resolve the problems I was having with my treo 750…HA! It has created more problems than solutions. Touch screen doesn’t respond as you would expect and as stated in other reviews the widgets are small and sometimes hard to manage.
I was so excited to get this phone, windows mobile 6, great internet, email, on and on. It states in the phone review that this phone is compatable with microsoft voice command. That isn’t the case, at least not for my i900. I used voice command with my treo 750 and it worked great so I just assumed it would work with the i900…it does not. So while you can receive calls thru the blue tooth headset, you can not make a call and that is huge for me. This is definitely a big negative.
It won’t send picture messages as advertised, at least not with T-mobile. Texting and email work fine. If the email is set up correctly thru your phone service it works great and you can either receive emails automatically, set it up to retrieve them every few hours or get them when manually requested .
I guess that if I had done a better job of researching the pros and cons of purchasing a phone made in Asia, I might have waited. You won’t get any help from Samsung USA as they just give you the excuse that since the phone is European, they do not support it in the US. As a matter of fact, you get that excuse almost anywhere you turn for support.

I’ll start by saying I’m happy with this phone, it does have good looks, works great as a PDA, but need some work as a phone. In short:
Pros
1. Camera (with smiley option
)
2. GPS
3. Radio (with save feature)
4. Touchscreen
Cons
1. The caller id shows who is calling, but why does it has to be so small when u have this neat big screen
2. I already lost my stylus, it shouldn’t be that hard to find a place to put it, the HTC already solved it.
Overall the hardware is great, but the software needs some work.
7 Gillaspie
Let me start by saying I was a bit of an idiot to buy this as a phone. It’s a PDA with a not-very-easy phone function. I won’t bore you with everything that I don’t like about this device. In short, while it looks very cool, the user interface is terrible. The touch screen is not at all finger friendly, i.e., you never know what you’re going to get when you touch the smaller icons (and some are really, really small). The Windows software is also pretty poor .. it takes a lot of clicks to get where you want to go and there’s very little about it that you could call intuitive. But mainly, I just wanted a phone that I could also use to do my e-mails and browse one or two web sites (like stock tickers). I got sucked in to buying the Omnia by the iPhone hype (except I don’t like Apple) and by the looks of this one (I normally do like Samsung). This is just a clumsy uber-functional gadget that ultimately is way more annoying than useful.

I am glad I bought this phone. I fell in love with it since I got it out of the box.
PROS:
* Slim design, executive look
* Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (great improvement)
* AGPS. 100% accurate when you choose My Location. Associated with
google maps is an A+. (Why pay for something that is already part of the
phone…That goes for you VERIZON!!!!).
* Opera Browser works great (sorry Internet Explorer)
* Touchscreen is very responsive (if you do not want screen to vibrate,
you can disable it in SETTINGS.
* Stylus, I do not use it. my fingers do the job excellent.
* Push E-Mail. I get all my emails from work, POP accounts, Gmail, (which
is already integrated in the phone), and of course windows live
messenger.
* Video player is very good, good resolution, great audio. (One thing
I dicovered today is that I can listen to Internet radio, WOW!!)
* My 5 Faves…NOT REALLY, but keep reading, (in this case 4 faves, yes, one of the widgets lets you add 4
people you call the most just like my five faves.) I am using my Omnia
with T-mobile and this came very handy.)
* Microsoft Office, YES! you have Excel, Word, Power Point. All 3 are
mobile version, you can read and edit any documents as you wish. you
also can read .pdf files, isn’t that something?? you will love this
phone.
CONS:
* I personaly, don’t have any negative comments on this phone, but I will
mention one that I know bothers some people out there, that is:
NO 3G Network compatibility in the USA. This phone was made exclusively
for Asia and Europe and their 3G works on a different band. But I tell
you one thing, Internet over EDGE is very good, so I really don’t care
at all about 3G speed. So keep this in mind….NO 3G in the USA.
Over All, this is a great phone. you will have to take your time to play with it to find all its features and how to make them work for you. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t get it to work the way you want the first time. It took me a good week to figure this phone out and now I am very excited I chose this phone. Iphone is a thing of the past, which I never had but my friends have it and some of them are not too happy with it, plus, they got stuck in a contract. Here you don’t have to do that.
Thank you SAMSUNG for this phone.
I have include this link called Omnia i900 - The Whole Nine Yards
This will make you take a final decision to get this phone or not.
Hope it helps, like it helped me to get this phone

Thanks! and let me know what you think.

The Samsung Omnia is a major disappointment. Let’s go over all the things this phone does wrong.
1) Touchscreen - There is only vibration feedback when using the keyboard. You’ll find yourself repeatedly tapping a command before the phone finally recognizes your finger press. The touch keypad is nothing close to the Iphone and impossible to use without the stylus. It registers on keypress (not release) so typos are a common occurance.
2) Slow - Throughout the day I have to run task manager and kill unwanted processes to keep my phone from dragging. I visit task manager between two and three times a day because this phone can’t run at a good pace with more than 4-5 programs running
3) Stylus - THERE IS NO INTERNAL STORAGE FOR THE STYLUS! You have to loop it through a tiny slide bar and let the stylus dangle. It makes it look like you have eyeliner hanging from your phone. I’ve received multiple comments from people at work. (It’s very noticeable.)
4) Widgets - Terrible…. It’s easy to clutter your phone front screen with them and none of the widgets are truly functional except the calendar and Opera shortcuts. The alert widget is the worst. You can’t set alerts for just one of your email accounts, meaning you’ll constantly receive alerts (in the same widget) if you have multiple email / text accounts.
5) Visual Voicemail - You have to pay $3 extra a month for this feature…. Ridiculous.
6) Internal Antenna placement - I have dropped more phone calls because of the placement of the antenna on the phone! The antenna is located on the bottom of the phone and not the top! So if you hold your omnia like a normal cell phone, the palm of your hand covers the antenna, instantly dropping your cell phone coverage in half (usually 2-3 bars). The only way I’ve made quality calls on the OMNIA is with a handsfree device or via speakerphone with the butt of the phone facing the sky.
7) Web Browsing - Comes with Opera and IE. IE works for “mobile sites”. Opera tries to render actual web pages and does a poor job of it. The omnia doesn’t have internal memory dedicated to video / graphics so when you zoom in/out, the phone pauses before it re-renders the page. It made browsing a chore and painful.
The plus sides of the phone.
1) Light - barely feel it in your pocket
2) Internal memory - 8gb internal memory is a plus
3) Camera - 5 megapixel camera takes great pictures
In closing, do not buy this phone, you’ll be deeply disappointed. The positive reviews must not have been reviewed by people that have used other smartphones. This is by far the worst smartphone I’ve owned. It’s so bad I’ve switched back to my Motorola Q….
